The First Luxe Boutique Wedding Gala in the Kootenays

Vancouver brides are lucky. Every season, they have the option of checking out a number of different wedding shows close to home. But now, Kootenay brides are set to get their own taste of a luxe wedding show right in their own backyard.

SWISH 2013 is a brand-new boutique wedding gala, created by Nelson-based event planner Tapestri Eco Fabulous Celebrations. On Saturday, February 16, SWISH will take over the historic Hume Hotel in Nelson for a day of pampering with mini spa and beauty treatments, yummy chocolate tastings and loads of wedding inspiration for Kootenay-area brides.

Upstairs, you’ll have a chance to meet with a wide range of vendors in a relaxed lounge-like environment, whether you’re searching for a local planner, photographer, cake artist or florist. Among the notables in attendance are photographers Laura Wilby and Bobbi Barbarich, sustainable florist Green Poppy, Aria Art of Hair and Starbird Bakehouse.

Downstairs, you can enjoy a fun and flirty “cabaret” lounge featuring bachelor and bachelorette party ideas, cocktails, lingerie from Esprit de la Femme and boudoir photography.

Plus, bridal fashion designer Patricia Nayel of Vancouver’s Pure Magnolia will be flying in with a selection of couture gowns and meeting with Kootenay brides in person at SWISH. Pure Magnolia gowns are renowned for their use of natural and vintage fabrics, and we proudly featured one very pretty lace number in the latest issue of Real Weddings.

SWISH runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and you can pick up a $10 regular ticket or $20 VIP pass in person at Esprit de la Femme or Starbird Bakehouse, or order your tickets online. For more wedding ideas, be sure to pick up a copy of Real Weddings at the show, with our compliments.
