Dedicated West Enders know all about Homewerx, the chic home accessories and lifestyle store on Davie Street, between Thurlow and Burrard in Vancouver. Recently, the store introduced a bridal gift registry which makes giving (and receiving) sophisticated, modern wedding gifts a snap. The store carries necessities like dishware, glassware, and cookery by Sophie Conran, Reidel, and Le Creuset to home decor items such as candles by Jonathan Adler and picture frames by the urban home staple, Umbra.

Homewerx is having a special champagne reception for brides and grooms on Thursday, January 21, from 7-10 pm. Enjoy the store after hours and consult with wedding advisors about what you will need in your home for your new chapter of life together. RSVP to weddings@homewerx.ca by January 15th.

A while back, our Distribution Manager shared the engagement news of her friends Heather and Colin – who is a pilot. A very unique proposal, we asked Heather if she could share the story with our Real Weddings blog readers. Here it is!

“We weren’t even sure we would be flying up island that day as Colin was thinking we might fly to Boundary Bay instead.  But I called my parents that morning and asked them to put up “Marry Me” on their rooftop just in case; they added the “Colin” themselves! When we flew up, I started to get a little concerned that we wouldn’t go near the house but I convinced him to request a fly-by and we headed towards there. Colin wanted to make sure I could see the house out my window but I kept on insisting he look too. “Hey look, your neighbour is asking someone named Lillian to marry him!” he exclaimed. Funny enough, the wind had blown “Colin” into what looked like “Lillian”. As we turned for another fly-by, I explained that it used to say “Colin” and he realized I was asking him to marry me!  He nearly crashed into the trees trying to fly over again and take photos!”
