sweet naturally cake popsEarlier this week, Sweet Naturally, a Vancouver bakery/cakery dropped off a dozen scrumptious cake lollipops to the Real Weddings office (pictured here on our Managing Editor’s desk). After meeting owner Frances Tsai at the Grassroots Wedding Fair a few weeks ago, we were immediately enamoured with the idea of petite cakes playfully consumed like lollipops… really, who doesn’t love food on a stick?

Sweet Naturally’s cake lollies not only look cute, but also taste amazing and are made, whenever possible, with organic, fresh, and natural ingredients. The ones we sampled were a delectable and moist chocolate and organic raspberry preserve cake with dark chocolate buttercream. They could be a delightful alternative to whole wedding cakes or cupcake towers, as wedding favours individually wrapped, or incorporated into the dessert table.

Visit their website for more information or find out more in person; Sweet Naturally will be at the next Vancouver Baker’s Market in South Vancouver on Saturday, March 20th.

Looking for cupcakes for your Big Day instead of a cake? Downtown Vancouver has a new sweet-tooth treasure stop – Big City Cupcakes. Newly located on Howe Street just off of Nelson, Big City Cupcakes first got their start in Kelowna in Fall 2008 by three entrepreneurial women armed with a few cherished family baking recipes. Their 27 flavours include both filled and unfilled cupcakes with such names as Lemon Drop, Chocolate Covered Cherry, Truffle, and this editor’s favourite, Strawberry Cheesecake, which features cream cheese icing. Yum!

Any of their flavours can be ordered for a wedding and come in both mini and big-city size. Or, if you have a custom flavour idea, they can also make that happen.
